Aggressive Dog Policy

The Kicking Horse Boarding Kennels has a NO aggressive dog policy.

An aggressive dog is defined as a dog that exhibits moderate to extreme aggression towards people or other animals and also includes animals that are destructive to property due to their aggression.  Kicking Horse Boarding Kennels can only accept dogs that can be turned out, handled and boarded next to others without fear of harm to employees or other animals in care.  If you have any concerns about your dog, please discuss this before arriving at the facility.  Sometimes only certain events cause aggression and we may be able to alleviate a problem before it occurs.  You will be asked to pick up your dog if it becomes unmanageable.

This policy has been adopted for the safety and welfare of ourselves, our children, our employees, our neighbours and the animals in our care.

Spay and Neuter Policy

The Kicking Horse Boarding Kennels recommends that all dog guests over one year old be spayed or neutered.

Daycare may not be appropriate for unaltered pets.

Boarding of unaltered animals is accepted, but please note that your pet may not be eligible for group play.

Females in heat are not accepted for boarding or daycare and if a female comes into heat during her stay, the owner will be required to collect their animal immediately.

We have this policy for the following reasons:

-intact males and females intermingling pose a risk of unwanted pregnancy

-intact dogs can disrupt our peaceful play environment due to aggressive play, mounting or dominant behaviour or being targeted by other dogs who smell their hormones, feel threatened, and lash out (posing a risk to the dogs in our care as well as ourselves)

-intact females can cause competitive behaviour amongst males

If your puppy is intact, please be aware that we may be required to play your puppy separately from the other dogs.Owner/Operator Kyla and Ambassador Mr. Jones
